As part of her socially engaged practice, Outlaw writes, curates, lectures and runs programs for artists, some of which are described below.
Seed Space operates as a lab for artists, writers and curators. Housed in Outlaw’s 1200 sq ft. studio, Seed Space exhibits sixartists each year who work in site-specific installation, sculpture and performance-based works. To foster an exchange between a growing network of local and national communities, we commission two critic/curators write texts for each exhibition brochure.
Insight? Outta Site! Insight? Outta Site! is a lecture series that works in conjunction with the Seed Space project. We bring in 3-5 nationally prominent critics/curators each year to meet artists and share dialogue. There are no mikes and no visuals. The talks are led by questions from the audience. Each event includes a potluck.
ART MAKES PLACE commissioned six temporary, community and performance-based artworks for public spaces. AMP concluded with a public exhibition and catalog documenting the project.
TAKE CARE: Biomedical Ethics in the Twenty-first Century TAKE CARE addresses the unprecedented bioethical dilemmas brought about by the rapid advancement of medical technology. A catalog documents the traveling exhibit, which includes the sculpture, installation and photography work of nine artists.
The projects listed above are made possible with funding from private foundations, local and state agencies, area universities, and most importantly, the Nashville Cultural Arts Project.
